Last week of August 2024.. how was your summer?!
Shows this week include a BlairOutLoud TRIO event at Guston's in Acworth! There are several other great acoustic events on tap as we close out an awfully hot summer here in the ATL. Thanks for the support, and hopefully we see you out to an event this week, and we hope you have a safe and fun Labor Day Weekend. Thanks all!
Well folks, it has been quite a year so far. Up until August, my personal year was flying by so fast, and it’s been hard to keep up with it all. August was a looong month though. Go look at a calendar, August this year has almost 5 full weeks! (Great for income if you are a monthly budget person btw).
On tap for this last week of August is a killer TRIO gig at Guston’s Grille in Acworth, GA on Friday the 30th. Guston’s recently renovated and put in a decent little stage and sound system! I played there for SOLO acoustic last week and the new PA sounds great.
On bass we have Jake Kitchen back to jam with Darren Goot and I for this gig. The three of us teamed up at the end of July for a bike night event and had a blast. Jake is a great bass player and down-to-earth cool dude, and I will have him jam in the Trio or Band any time I can get him.
I’ve got some great acoustic shows this week, including a visit back to Rome, GA at The Moon Roof Bar on Wednesday to get thing kicked off this week. Below are the shows this week before Labor Day on Monday.
Come see me this week, and have a great Labor Day weekend as we start to turn the page on this awfully hot summer, and welcome the Fall Events! More on that soon!

Real quick: Let me mention an additional show that I’ll talk more about next week. My grunge project Jeremy Would Let Me Drown has an amazing event coming up on Sept 7th at Gate City Brewing in Roswell, GA.
Happy 4th of July!
Jeremy Would Let Me Drown is celebrating July 4th week on Saturday the 6th at Wing & Tap! Here’s a look at a few other highlighted events for July! Happy 4th everyone!
Hello everyone, thanks for tuning in for a second. I’ll be brief, but I did want to make sure to wish you and your loved ones a safe and fun 4th of July! I can’t believe that we are half way through 2024 already but time flies when you’re having fun! 🤘😎
THIS SATURDAY the Jeremy Would Let Me Drown project is doing its thing at Wing & Tap House in Marietta: Saturday July 6th at 8pm.
Most of you know of my involvement with this band, but in case it’s your first time and you came to see what’s going on with BlairOutLoud, I’m also the co-vocalist for this act that pays tribute to three iconic bands of the 90s: Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains. If you like those bands, you’ll love our jam-packed sets of radio hits as well as a few rarities. Come check it out this Saturday!
Now on to BlairOutLoud news:
We welcome Tom Carling back to the stage to jam with the TRIO on Friday July 19th at Guston’s in Acworth. Carling, Darren Goot, and I were the long-standing trio called Leonard Koggins Trio (I had originally joined as a later member of their project). In ‘21 we had changed everything over to the BlairOutLoud label, so LK3 named events ended at that time. Fast-forward to ‘23, after Carling had bowed out of BlairOutLoud to jam with some other groups, he occasionally still offers to fill in when the opportunity arises, so here we are! Come see this iconic TRIO do its thing July 19th!
BlairOutLoud DUO are debuting a new venue this month:
Friday July 26th, Amanda and I, the BOL DUO, will be making our debut at a venue just off the Marietta Square called Hamp and Harry’s!
BOL Update Week of 2024-05-13 - Shows and Announcements!

Hello all!
The BlairOutLoud BAND has an exciting show lined up for next week in Cumming at the City Center Complex at The Well! May 25th, come see us throw and seriously fun rock and roll party!
THIS FRIDAY.. Jeremy Would Let Me Drown is unplugging and bringing you an intimate acoustic set! We will be down a member due to family emergency, and we’ve decided instead of cancel the show, we could still have some fun and bring you some great music acoustically. We hope you will come and enjoy your evening!
All of this and a little more in the video here:
BOL Update - Shows and a little more detail!
Today I made a more concise video with my show announcements: two shows with Jeremy Would Let Me Drown coming up THIS WEEKEND, and several BlairOutLoud BAND shows on the way for April into May! The video at the bottom is shared from my YouTube Channel, and I also uploaded it to the BlairOutLoud Facebook Page. Enjoy!
Hello ALL!
Recently I was testing out some streaming hardware and software and went LIVE on Facebook. https://fb.watch/qVD1rdScDq/
I appreciate everyone that came on and gave me some feedback and supported the stream. This year I am making an effort to shoot more video, and in the process, trying to learn a lot about the A/V gear that I own, and how to make stuff with it.
Today I decided to make something a tad more concise.. (I still played some of my favorite guitar riffs) and announce some great shows coming up. Here they are in list form with some more detail, and at the bottom here’s the new video that made today with these announcements. Enjoy!
Shows THIS WEEKEND with Jeremy Would Let Me Drown:
Friday, March 22nd - Wing & Tap House - Marietta, GA - 8pm
Saturday, March 23rd - Wing & Rock Fest - Etowah River Park - Canton, GA - 2:30pm
More info about Wing & Rock Fest:
For those of you that might have missed the announcement from 2023, I am now the co-lead vocalist and guitar player for Jeremy Would Let Me Drown. We perform the music of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden. If you like 90s rock, you need to come check us out…and this weekend could be a solid chance!
Now.. the BlairOutLoud BAND will be performing at several great events through April and into May here:
BOL Vid Update with guest Amanda Blair!
BOL Vid Update with Amanda Hill Blair! Wait.. does Amanda play guitar too? We also reflect on some fun recent DUO gigs, and discuss this week's events!
How was your weekend?
Amanda and I had two fantastic DUO shows at Center Street Tavern and Los Magueys in West Marietta! We are very thankful for everyone that came out to support us. Both nights we saw a host of people that we haven’t seen in some time.. so it was great to connect with family and friends.. and fans. THANK YOU!
Enjoy this week’s update.. Amanda picked up the guitar and started picking out some Bob Marley.. I forgot that she knew that riff on guitar!
Check below the video for events for this week that we are excited about.
Quick BlairOutLoud Vid Update!
Just wanted to personally express appreciation again for 2023. I'd like to start posting more video in 2024, so here's me starting this goal.. also a little promo for this weeks DUO gigs starting TONIGHT (2024-01-05)!
What’s up friends and fans!
One of my goals for 2024 is to produce more video: updates, music and gear reviews, show announcements, etc. I started this workflow years ago, but my performance schedule and home life kept me busy. So let me get things started by sharing some quick appreciation and some updates on DUO shows for this week! Thanks all! Say hello in the comments below if you’d like.
2023: Changes, Trials, and Triumph
It’s been a fantastic year.. and we need to acknowledge every one that put their time and effort into supporting us, performing with us, and helping BlairOutLoud succeed in 2023! We couldn’t have done it without you, and we are very excited what 2024 has in store.
Happy Holidays all!
Hope you are having a fantastic holiday season! Thanks for reading and your support.
Quick housekeeping:
I have been working diligently on the BlairOutLoud 2024 calendar and will be posting events very soon! I’ve already scheduled several SOLO and DUO gigs, as well as some TRIO and/or full BAND events. Announcements regarding some of the bigger shows will be posted here on the blog soon, and be sure to check the calendar here or the BOL FB Page for the latest updates!
I’m renewing my efforts to send weekly show notifications (and other news) to my email subscriber list, so if you would like to be a part of that, please SUBSCRIBE HERE! And.. by the way, if your algorithm sends you everything that I post, and you don’t want to also be on my mailing list, I won’t mind if you unsubscribe.. I would rather have a healthy list of folks that enjoy that platform for finding out about new events.. so no worries!

Reflections:
Well.. here we are .. the last week of 2023. If you own a business, it’s hard not to look back and reflect on the performance of your business, your wins, your losses, and think about what you should have done better, or what changes you should make moving forward. Despite some disappointment that we faced in the beginning of the year with some line-up changes on bass guitar, this interestingly led to opportunities to jam with many musicians that I had wanted to collaborate with for years. The end result is that several new players got to jam with the BlairOutLoud group, offering us some fresh energy, new song choices, and some nice inspiration to sustain us throughout 2023.
And one other unplanned item that happened this year, is that I was asked to join Jeremy Would Let Me Drown, a grunge tribute band performing the music of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden. This opportunity offered me a chance to work on music in a separate direction from the material of BlairOutLoud, and in the process I have been able to expand my repertoire of covers to unexpected heights.
Let’s get some numbers on the table:
Total number of gigs that I have performed this year, including SOLO, DUO, TRIO, BAND, and JWLMD: 199!
It just couldn’t be 200 could it.. HA. I was actually surprised to get closer to 200 this year.. the elusive gig record for me is 247 from 2019. But I’m okay not to hit that again.. that year was brutal on my schedule.
The SOLO gigs once again outweighed everything else, but that’s a given when I fill up most of my weekdays and some weekends with those events.
Like a repeat of ‘22, we played all over the place this year, had lots of great private events, set up in lots of different spaces, some stages, some floors, some outdoor tents, etc etc. Lots of variation kept it random, but we brought the party every time.
Gig breakdown for each line-up:
SOLO: 146
DUO: 23
TRIO: 8
BAND: 11
JWLMD: 11
New faces on stage with us this year:
Gary Stone, a seasoned approachable pro musician (he’s actually a drummer but also plays guitar and bass in many projects) has filled in on bass more than anyone else for TRIO and BAND gigs this year. We could call him the un-official official 4th member of BlairOutLoud BAND, but he is busy enough with his own projects that he has also had a few people fill-in for him! Gary is also highly experienced in live sound applications, so we benefitted greatly from his ear and expertise with dialing in our live performance.
Derrick Gaddis, an incredible guitar player and great friend of the BlairOutLoud group, filled in on bass for several TRIO and BAND gigs earlier in 2023. He also participates in many other rock and country tribute projects which kept him busy all year long.
John Sousa: Once, when Gary Stone wasn’t available for a private event, he graciously lined up a killer bass player, another fine musician very active on the local scene in various projects, Mr. John Sousa. John has bass chops for days, and really brought a lot of bottom-end musicality to our material. So far he’s played a handful of gigs with us and we look forward to more in ‘24.
Chris Butler, someone I had known only from a distance, seeing him active with teaching and performing all around metro Atlanta, filled in on bass with the TRIO recently in December. We had a fantastic evening, and we look forward to another fun event with Chris on bass in January of ‘24!
Jake Kitchen (bass) and Zach Neal (drums): Finally, there was one TRIO gig this year where I had to replace both the drummer and bass player position, and I was fortunate enough to have these two amazing players on a gig. This was a fun one. I’ve played with both of these guys in the past in other bands, so getting to jam with them as “BlairOutLoud TRIO” was a real treat and we had a blast.
So let’s talk about this other thing:
This past April, Jeff Wheeler, the drummer/vocalist of Jeremy Would Let Me Drown, called me and asked if I would be interested.. or have the ability.. to sing a lot of Chris Cornell material, including the old school stuff. I responded that was fairly confident that I could handle it, and I mentioned that I’d done it before (at Chris Cornell Tribute shows). However, performing a 2-3 hour set, singing like that, could definitely pose a challenge for me.
So.. with challenge accepted.. I was asked to come rehearse some songs with them. What transpired after this definitely changed the momentum of 2023 for me. In July, we officially announced that I was the new guitarist/co-vocalist, and I played my first show at a brand new venue in Gainesville called Boot Barn Hall. This place is massive, and the stage is one of the biggest stages that I have played on in some time (possibly since my Colossick days even). We rocked it.. and even though you need about 1200 people there to fill the place, our 130 pre-sale tickets felt like a small victory for this brand new effort. New town, new band member (me), new venue.. and we played great and sounded massive.
Gratitudes:
So, as we faced some challenges early on, it became apparent that all of the hard work in ‘21 and ‘22 to build momentum with BlairOutLoud is starting to pay off. It was easier than I thought to attract great guest-star talent. We discovered greater opportunities and we were able to fill the books with lots of fun events. The potential is growing, and everything that we’ve accomplished this year, both with BlairOutLoud and with JWLMD, seems to be propelling us into a fantastic new year.
We need to take a second to express DEEP APPRECIATION, and give a whole-hearted THANK YOU to all the players, their contributions, time, energy, and dedication to performing, supporting, and promoting for BlairOutLoud events in 2023. I had them all brushing up on tons of songs, following me on stage for starts and stops, and meeting me for early load-ins, light and sound installations, and late night load-outs. We did it all, and these guys rocked it!
One more time, give it up for:
Gary Stone, Derrick Gaddis, John Sousa, Chris Butler, Jake Kitchen, and Zach Neal! 🤘🙌👏👏👏👏
Bravo gentlemen!
Let’s not forget.. the GOOT.. we call him the Greatest Of Our Time.. Darren Goot: always solid on the drums in any style! It was a pleasure working with him again this year as always. Amanda Blair and I are very fortunate to have access to all of these great players and again we look forward to more collaborative efforts in ‘24.
And now.. THANK YOU.. to each and every one of you (especially if you’ve read this blog post down to this point) for all the support. You make this possible for us!
Closing Thoughts:
BlairOutLoud wasn’t established to be a performing entity exclusively, but I was planning at a very early stage to create video posts for music opinion pieces, product testing, vlogging, and other random musings. I have a renewed interest in making that happen in ‘24. This effort will start with small promo videos.. mostly talking to my subscriber list about things of interest, cool events coming soon, and other ramblings. So once again.. if you’d like to participate..
Here’s where I will also be promoting for shows:
I will continue to post gigs and special events on the Calendar, and Events Page (where BandsInTown is synced). Plus we will continue to post a weekly cluster on the BlairOutLoud FB Page. The facebook page will also list some of my Events: both BlairOutLoud TRIO or BAND plus JWLMD Events. Lastly, I post occasionally to X (formerly Twitter), and we will continue to post Reels promoting events to Instagram, where they are auto-shared back to the BOL FB Page.
Hope all of this helps! Thanks for reading. I will see you all next year! I hope that you have a fantastic and safe NYE, and a glorious and productive fresh and shiny 2024!
-Tom Blair
Amazing experience playing music I love!
Last Friday, we performed an acoustic set to a full house at The Wing & Tap House in Marietta, GA. Recreating the “Mtv Unplugged” vibe with this incredible music was amazing. Check out one of the videos, and head to the JWLMD FB Page to see a few more.
Hello all!
BlairOutLoud has a fun week of gigs on the way this week, some SOLO acoustic stuff, one DUO event, one TRIO event.. and a full BAND private party! Just about every line-up gets crack at it this week, so I’ll be running around all over town, making things happen, and hoping to see you there! Check my Calendar for more info!
Receiving a much needed break this week is my new line-up that I now perform with called Jeremy Would Let Me Drown. We are coming off of a very busy week and 2 weekend shows that were a ton of fun, but involved a lot of work and travel to all make happen.
We performed at The Wing & Tap House Friday 12-8-23 in Marietta, GA to a full house and had a great time. Saturday 12-9-23, we drove to Murphy, NC to play at a place called Chevelle’s. The weekend was fun, but we not only performed, we also set up PA, lighting, and ran the whole production.
I’ve mentioned this project in a few of my blogs so far. It feels strange to talk about another band on the BlairOutLoud website, but since it involves me as their “front man” so to speak (I’m a co-lead-vocalist with the drummer Jeff Wheeler), my experiences, pics, and video are bound to land here from time to time.
I wanted to take a second to talk about the show last Friday at The Wing & Tap House in Marietta. The group made the decision to perform the whole first set of the night acoustically, in the style of like an “Mtv Unplugged” vibe. Personally, I remember how amazing those episodes were, back when you actually watched music on Mtv. And I remember watching bands like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and others like STP or even Stevie Ray Vaughn. So this is what we did last Friday.. and of course JWLMD plays the music of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden, so as we performed that material there was that sense of awe and appreciation, remembering that time, and recreating live for our audience today.
Below is one of the videos edited from the show. This is “Got Me Wrong” from Alice In Chains. Let me know in the comments what you think of it! And use the link to see a few more that we uploaded to their FB Page. Thanks all.. Enjoy!

Regarding: Jeremy Would Let Me Drown
Amazing show last Friday night with Jeremy Would Let Me Drown! If you haven’t checked us out yet, and you like the music of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden, you should catch the next show!
Hello to all!
Jeremy Would Let Me Drown had a killer show last Friday (10/20/23) at The Wing Cafe & Tap House in Marietta, GA. For those of you that are wondering what this band is, I was asked to join the group over the summer, and I’ve worked tirelessly to hop onboard and deliver some great shows so far. This band is a “grunge tribute” they call it. Basically, the goal is to specifically perform the music of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden.
The “Jeremy” guys have been around on the scene for the last few years, and I’m the new guy in the bunch. So far, the response has been great.. and last Friday we had a fantastic show. I captured some video footage from the event, and I created a montage of clips that highlight the energy of the show. Check it out below and let me know what you think!
Thanks for checking it out! Of course, all my BlairOutLoud project and content is still wide-open.. check out the Events Page or scroll to the bottom of the Home Page to visit the calendar to see everything I’ve posted so far.
We are having amazing weather in the ATL with the cooler temps, and we are finishing out the year strong with lots of fun events on the way. Thanks for checking in and watching the video.
See you soon,
-Tom Blair

JWLMD “Battle” Shows: Back in August we performed what we called a “Decade Battle” between an 80s band and our “90s” tribute. Each band played for 30 mins back and forth for several sets. It is a fun concept that we will be repeating at some of the coming shows listed above.
So that’s it for now.. other SOLO and DUO announcements coming soon, but this post was all about the BAND affairs! Thanks for reading.. Hope to see you at a show this fall!
Thank you Cresswind Community Peachtree City!
Thank you Cresswind Community Peachtree City! BlairOutLoud BAND had a great event last Saturday August 12th and we’d love to do it again!
BlairOutLoud BAND says THANK YOU!
Thank you Cresswind Peachtree City for the fantastic hospitality last Saturday, August 12th! BlairOutLoud BAND had a blast entertaining your community, and we are SO thankful that you let us set up inside the ballroom! As soon as we loaded-in, the clouds erupted and it rained and roared, so the show would have been rained out for sure, without the change of location. Plus, ya know.. A/C.. this heat has been brutal here in Georgia!
The band put together a fantastic set of classic 60s and 70s rock and 80s danceable tunes that we thought would be great for the occasion. By all means, it looked to us that everything went great, and everyone was smiling and having fun. If you’ll have us back, we’d love to do it again!
If you have pics and video from this event, if you post on social media will you tag BlairOutLoud on FB, Instagram, or Twitter? That would be great!
Let’s do it again! 🙌
BTW.. we are coming to Peachtree City again on September 16th, to perform at Grazing Here:
We would love to see you at this show! Click the flyer for more info on the event or if you are on FB here is the Event Link:

Songbirds Guitar Museum was great!
Recently I had a chance to visit the Songbirds Guitar Museum in Chattanooga, TN. This was a great experience viewing all types of exhibits covering music history, vintage instruments, famous innovators and forgotten influencers, technology and science, and so much more. Please do yourself a favor and check this out the next time you are in that area!
Yesterday, Sunday the 5th, I had the chance to visit the Songbirds Guitar Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee. On the Saturday the 4th, Amanda and I were just a few miles NE of Chattanooga where I performed at an event on Chickamauga Lake. It was a fantastic event, and I’ll have a link here soon, to another blog post where I’ll share some details and pictures.
When we woke up Sunday morning, first on the agenda was breakfast, but while eating, we both remembered that the last time we were in town, we didn’t get a chance to check out this museum, so we made immediate plans to go!
I’m so glad we stopped by! I supposed that their Sunday traffic is a little slower than normal, especially right when they open at noon, because we were the only people there at the time. This made this experience even more intimate and very enjoyable.
We started in the exhibits that shed light on the contributions of many minority groups, and the stand out performers that led the way on innovation and creativity in the early years of American music culture. If there was a guitar, banjo, or other instruments that were pivotal in forming a musical movement, or a particular voice that was so prominent that it influenced multiple generations of singers, the first few exhibits really highlighted this. Lots of great vintage instruments, and really.. works of art were on display to prime you for the rest of the showcase. Here were some of the first exhibits/instruments that we encountered: (click or tap to get full pic)
About half way back into the room, we noticed that there was a nice size stage, with PA ready to go. Along the backdrop behind the stage was a screen promoting several upcoming events. I didn’t get a picture of this, but I wanted to comment here about it.. this would be a neat place to go check out live music, right there inside the Songbird Museum!
We saw a connected room through a short hallway next to the stage that opened up into an entire new room of exhibits! The museum was much bigger and went back further into the building that I thought, so this caught me by surprise. BTW, this museum is on the backside of the Chattanooga Choo-Choo site. So just around the corner and all in and around the same building there are lots of shops and restaurants for whatever mood that strikes you. This area is old and full of amazing Chattanooga history, which makes the experience even better.
There were several areas where people could sit down to play guitar as well. There were video screens that featured video of famous players that had visited the museum and discussed their gear, playing style, influences, and more. I watched one of the Eric Johnson clips.
Here are some more exhibits and guitars featured further into the back of the museum:
The last room in the back had a beautiful display of vintage guitars, not necessarily tied to any specific performers, just very unique models all very valuable and rare. These display cases were floor to ceiling.. quite a site:
Making our way back into the main room and along the opposite side, we discovered a wall of amps, a healthy mix of vintage and some newer models, but the point of the wall was to push the buttons that represented each amp and hear a sample of their iconic sounds. This was a really neat part of the tour. Of course, the Marshall did not disappoint.. Here’s a quick clip:
Last but not least were walls of pedals, and many areas devoted to technology and its influence on music throughout history. There were even many places explaining how the circuitry works on amps, pedals, microphones, and how sound waves are generated and affected by it all. This was a really neat section, and the one that we ended on after being there for a little over an hour.
I’m thrilled that we were able to check out the Songbirds Guitar Museum! It was a delight and should inspire anyone interested in music, music history, musical instruments, and the shape and molding of music culture. The next time you are in Chattanooga, you should stop by! At the time of this writing Adult Tickets were $15 a piece. Worth every penny in my opinion!
Thanks for reading! And thanks to my wife Amanda for capturing some of these great photos as well. We were both very inspired by this place.

Wrapping up Feb 2023.. Monster month!
Feb 2023.. one for the books! Wrapping up a great month with a killer last week.. many great acoustic events around town and a slamming electrified Friday and Saturday night! All details and a video inside.. check it out!
BlairOutLoud has had a fantastic start to 2023! January kicked things off, but February really picked up the pace! Here’s a quick review of the past week and some stuff coming up mark your calendars for!
I’ve had lots of great acoustic shows all over town (new spots for me as well) with great responses all around. I think the warmer weather has definitely gotten everyone in a “we are done with Winter, ready for Spring” kind of mood. If you’ve been getting out, supporting venues, and supporting live music.. to you I say.. THANK YOU!
This past week was one of my busiest of the year so far! 5 gigs.. 🤘😝
Starting out at Lola’s in Roswell last Wednesday with a full house.. everything seemed to be coming together for a busy wonderful week.. and it did NOT disappoint. Thursday at Los Magueys Marietta.. I have such an awesome group of regulars that really support me and love when I stop in over there every two weeks.
Friday the TRIO was over at Guston’s Grill in Acworth, GA. We had my friend Derrick Gaddis filling in on bass and he absolutely killed it. The house was packed when we arrived and we had to load-in through the big garage door just to get our equipment inside. It was a little cold and rainy, but the crowd was on fire that night. We threw a whole bunch of stuff at them from Black Crowes, to ZZ Top, to Metallica, and a little Motorhead at the end of the night. They ate it up and we truly had a great time. Great tips and atmosphere.. THANK YOU ACWORTH!
Saturday, my wife joined us as the BAND made our return to perform at Good ‘Ol Days in Cumming, GA. We made a splash there last October, and they invited us back to bring the party!
It’s typical in the 1st set for the room to warm up to who we are and what we are doing there… but 2nd set was bananas! The crowd picked it up a notch, and the video below highlights some of the best parts of the night. Enjoy!
But wait there’s more…
I had one more thing happening on Sunday afternoon.. I debuted my SOLO show at Stillfire Brewery in Suwanee, GA. This was an interesting experience to say the least.
First of all, this area is fantastic. The town of Suwanee has really put a ginormous effort into creating a “town center” area with a park, shops, restaurants and StillFire Brewery all within walking distance.
There were tons of people there.. it was great weather, and this really brought a lot of people out in this area for sure. But.. this Brewery also had a Girl Scout Company there inside selling cookies all day to the patrons.. umm okay. So I played in front of like five 6 year olds dancing around an being crazy for over an hour… Not something I expected at a Brewery 😆.
But it was truly a great day.. people tipped well and the Brewery liked what I did.. gonna try and get some more events there later this year!
Everyone have a fantastic week!
-Tom
Thanks for reading.. Here’s a quick glance at some events coming soon:
Let's Review 2022 🧐
Here is an overdue Review of 2022.. thinking about how far BlairOutLoud has come, highlighting some achievement, thinking about what we’ve brought to the stage, and commentating on where we can go from here. All line-ups from Solo to Band have great potential, and we are excited for what the new year brings!
Well… it’s mid February of ‘23.. perfect time to offer some reflection about 2022 right?
HA.. well I would have preferred to get a “Review of ‘22” post up at the end of 2022.. but I was just barely keeping up with everything week to week! I’m blessed to have the gigs and engagements that I do.. and BlairOutLoud finished the year pretty strong I must say. So.. finally, I’m taking a moment to stop, reflect, observe, learn, and review the brand.
Let’s look at some official numbers:
Total BlairOutLoud gigs for 2022 (basically, the number of gigs that I performed either as SOLO, DUO, TRIO, or full BAND): 178!
Pretty solid number I believe! I hit the ground running after a three week hiatus in February (used for brand organizing plus we got in a quick family vacation).
I’m not sure I’ll ever quite reach 2019’s number of 247 - That year was just absolutely insane for me.. and I learned that less gigs with higher paying base pay was my real goal.
Relationships felt stronger this year, private events were paying better, and tips are much stronger this year with an improved live show and better audience engagement.
Enjoy this photo reel with some highlights from the events in 2022:
In reviewing the pics, and thinking about all the ways that we performed, it is obvious that we really put ourselves everywhere in 2022. From restaurants with built in stages, in parking lots, on flatbed trailers, on lake docks, at pool side parties, and even one glorious gazebo in there.. we really played all over in lots of unique places in ‘22.
Here is the breakdown with the line-ups:
SOLO: 119 events
DUO: 19
TRIO: 20
BAND: 20
Concepts brought to the stage:
We worked hard on audience engagement this year. I had an idea to integrate a request system (one like I do at my acoustic shows: people text message me their requests) into the TRIO and BAND shows!
My vision was for people to scan a QR code and be given access to a special page on the website with artists and songs that we can perform. When the patron selected one of the songs, it automatically sent the request to my Google Voice line, where I read it in real time on stage and directed the band “in real-time” according to the requests coming in. I implemented this system at several shows on the back end of the year and it showed some promise. Check it out the link below and let me know what you think!
Here’s the “Live Links” BAND page with the Song lists and Tip offerings!
I feel like it’s a bold concept, and I’m going to continue to work on the look, feel, and workflow of this “Live Link” page moving forward. Over time I’ll continue to tweak it and make it better. Feedback is VERY WELCOMED.. good or bad. I’m just playing with this and looking for better connections with the audience.
Retrospection:
Let’s talk about BlairOutLoud BAND.
We are highly entertaining.. quite the talented group of musicians that are interested in getting paid decent to have fun and bring joy to those that participate. What we don’t have is a theme.. an outfit.. a tribute to a specific band, or decade, or really specific style. And we are good with that.. sort of..
You see.. because I have decided to not take the BAND into a specific direction, the thought originally was that this would open up opportunities to do lots of different events, and for example.. play classic rock where needed, 80’s danceable rock where needed, and 90’s alternative grunge and heavier material where appropriate. This is a solid plan, right? Keep it open?
Apparently not. Atlanta cover and tribute bands have gotten so specific, and so curated into a specific style or act.. that some of the OG cover “party band” style acts are getting passed over in favor of the flavor of the month tribute band (one of my friends called it “rock and roll halloween” bands). Instead of just getting up there and selling yourself to your audience, bringing them an authentic killer rock show, many musicians are trying to promote themselves as a “rock tribute” (whatever that means).. or specifically tributing one band.. the “Journey Experience”, the “A Night of Bon Jovi”, etc etc.
This is really not the direction that I care to take BlairOutLoud. If it means that I’ll have less opportunities in bars and clubs, then I’m fine with that. I would rather follow private party opportunities that are more intimate and connected with people that genuinely love what we do, rather than try to be the best cover act that beats all other bands to the punch when getting into all the hottest spots around town. It’s just not worth it to me, and I don’t have the drive to compete in that space.
Conclusions:
If you’ve read this far.. you rock. I wanted to commentate for a minute about the big picture of how I think, regarding our status. I’m confident that I portray the right amount of care for the audience, mixed with just enough of a curated song choice, and deepened connections with the audience to make a small dent on the scene with what we do.
This attitude I hope I bring to every line-up from my solo act to my full band. I’m here to have fun, make a decent pay.. and create connections/establish relationships with people that matter and feel good. I’m not here to play every sold-out terrible song that I don’t like.. nor am I here to dress up like the coolest cat on the scene with just right sunglasses, leather jackets, bandanas around my leg, etc etc. I’m not down with the “rock and roll halloween”. HA.
I believe that staying true to who we are, and what we do best.. ultimately is the best formula. We might lose members along the way, or change things up every now and then to grow and learn, but that’s okay.. at least we were honest, connected, and brought fun musical entertainment to our little world.
After covid, and up to the end of 2022, I chased the cover music scene hard with what I thought was a decent winning formula.. but as I see where I faltered, I’m beginning to understand that I’m not as concerned, as I once was, about being on top.
In 2023, things are changing.. I’ll still be all over the place with my solo acoustic show… I work with 4 scheduling companies now, with 2 of them prominently scheduling me in lots of great spots everywhere. The Trio and Band will still be at some of the bigger places.. but we will work to get lots more private events, festivals, and contracted dates with better appreciation for what we do.. and that will be just fine.
I wish you all a fantastic year! We will be seeing you out there for sure! If you’d like a great solo, duo, or band for your special event.. CONTACT ME HERE.. and let’s set it up!
Thanks all
-Tom Blair
One of my favorite moments from 2022 😃
Here's one of my favorite moments of 2022: A wedding that Amanda and I were given the opportunity to perform for in September. I wanted to highlight this special event just after it happened, but couldn’t get to it, so here’s a post honoring these lovely folks, and saying thank you for allowing us to be a part of their special day!
Hello all! February 2023 in full swing! BlairOutLoud has some great show announcements to release.. (they will be shared in another blog post, and blasted on socials). Also, there’s been some changes that we’ve made that will guide our momentum here in ‘23. We are excited to share all of this, so stay tuned to this space and check back often if you like!
For now, here in this post.. I wanted to highlight a very special event that Amanda and I were a part of in September of ‘22. Unfortunately, I didn’t make time to blog about it here on the website just after it happened, but it was a great experience that I hope will lead to future opportunities where we can best offer our talents.
Early in 2022, I received an inquiry about performing at a wedding, set for September 23rd. At first, the client requested that I play acoustic guitar (basically my SOLO acoustic performance.. just a little snazzy and curated for the wedding environment) for the cocktail hour just directly after the ceremony. I was happy to do that and agreed, but I also decided to ask if they would like someone to perform music for the ceremony. HINT HINT.. Amanda.. HINT HINT… And they agreed!!
So, I signed Amanda and I up for the job. She would play piano in the ceremony, and I would be ready outside to play acoustic for the cocktail hour. This was truly going to be the first DUO event where we did not actually perform together, but both had a role. We were delighted and worked hard to prepare.
But what about the reception? At first, there was discussion about hiring a separate DJ to complete the line-up and have all the bases covered. But I started to wonder if the client would be open to let me DJ the event myself. I certainly would be good for it, and it would also allow Amanda and I to control the flow and feel of the entire event. No doubt there was a little bit of pressure to take all of that on.. but we were good for it, and the results speak for themselves.
The event was set in Dahlonega, Georgia, at a place called Juliet Chapel. This was beautiful venue with great outdoor spaces that begged for the weather to play nice… and that’s exactly what we experienced: Wonderful weather with warmth and low humidity. It really was just a perfect day.
So let me wrap up and say… KEEP US IN MIND! We would love to do more of these wedding events in the future! Reach out over my social media channels or CLICK the button below and fill out a form to contact me. Let’s make great memories together! Thanks all!
VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO THE MCCOY FAMILY for hiring BlairOutLoud.. and to Tim & Jordan Schultz, your love was on full display.. may your marriage be fulfilling and wonderful for years to come!
Below was my FB post about the event just after it happened with pics and video from my perspective. Below that are a just a few more pics from the professional photographer, Tiffany Holmes Photography. Thanks for reading!
Finishing out a fantastic month!
Happy Halloween! We are finishing out a fantastic month! Here’s a look back at some of the action captured at the various events we got ourselves into this past month. Rock-tober was a fun one! THANKS ALL!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN.. GREETINGS from all of us at BlairOutLoud!!
BlairOutLoud would like to say THANK YOU to all the venues, private parties, fans, and friends that have made October 2022 one of the best months of the year for us!
October feels like the last big push for all the “stuff” that you wanted to accomplish in ‘22… Not that we don’t have some great stuff still to come in November or December! But it feels like you wake up on Nov 1, and the world starts spinning so fast that you really just have to hold on to something, and ride out the storm until January 1. Do you ever feel like that? The holidays are a mess and I just smile and take it..LOL.
However, this is a solid time in the next few weeks to be planning and prepping for ‘23! We are already contracting, and confirming some interesting events for next year, and the BAND has been brainstorming lots of new material to debut next year for the fans. Should be a killer year! More on all of that in future posts!
For now.. here’s a look back at OCT 2022. What a month! Again.. THANKS TO ALL for the support! Here’s to the Holidays and on to a strong and bright 2023!

St Patty's WEEK LONG Celebrations!
To have one great St Patty’s gig is a fantastic opportunity for a musician.. This year, the TRIO and I (solo gigs) had several St Patty’s opportunities, and so it was a WEEK LONG celebration in several different venues! Here’s a breakdown of some of those events. Thanks for the support everyone!
HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that came out to all the various St Patty gigs that we performed over the last WEEK!
It’s one thing to have a great St Patty’s gig for a musician to perform.. but this year we were blessed with several different events, some SOLO for me, and then the TRIO got involved in a few and overall, everything went great and the fans were awesome!
I would like to thank all the people that came out to support us at each location, and if you are new to BlairOutLoud, hopefully we won you over and you’ll check out the calendar for upcoming events and come see us again…
So below is a couple of random shots from some of the events of the last week, with some of my own commentary about the gigs, and some gratitude. Enjoy!
MARCH 12: BlairOutLoud TRIO at Rosati’s
We were invited to participate in a St Patty’s Party at a new location (for us) called Rosati’s Pizza Sports Pub. It was a 4 band event, and we had the 8pm slot. I think this was actually the best slot to have based on the crowd and the party being in full swing at that time. We had about 90 mins to give our best, so we whipped together some of our best classic rock, 80s and 90s heavy hitters and let ‘er rip! The crowd was awesome.. got people up to the dance floor to rock out with us, and got great feedback after the show!
MARCH 13: BlairOutLoud SOLO at Misty Mountain Hops
I was invited to perform my first time in Blue Ridge at a place called Misty Mountain Hops! The managers there created a special menu for the event with reuben sandwiches, beef stew, and green drink specials, and sold tickets for the event. We had a full house! Everyone was very welcoming for me, and I rocked the house for about 3 hours utilizing my song lists, taking requests, and getting folks to party with me and sing along. It was a fantastic occasion, and the BAND just might make our way back up this summer for another fun event.. More details soon on that!
MARCH 17: Actual St Patty’s! BlairOutLoud SOLO at SoFo Modern Cuisine
SoFo is hands down one of my favorite places to play as a solo act. The people are loyal, fun, and know how to party! SoFo was primmed and decorated out for Saint Patricks Day, and the staff was decked out with awesome green sexy outfits ready to serve and kick ass. I performed for about 4 hours with a tiny break in the middle.. it was quite a marathon for me, but I held my own. The place was swinging and singing, cheers for beers and the mood was awesome! Thank you SoFo for an awesome St Patty’s Party and I can’t wait to play there again!
MARCH 18: BlairOutLoud TRIO at MacCrackens
So, where the weather was just incredible on the actual St Patty’s Day.. the rain came in and doused us on Friday the 18th.. so where we would normally perform outside at MacCrackens.. what they call “The Crack Outback”, we had to move our operation back inside. So at first this was a bummer, but very soon after the first couple of songs, our friends and fans joined us, and we all threw down hard! Lots of requests.. great tips.. and overall just a really fun night rocking for the crowd, for a St Patty’s “round 2” if you will.
MARCH 19: BlairOutLoud TRIO at Canton Icehouse
Basically.. it was “Round 3” of our St Patty’s celebration extending into our Saturday evening. The TRIO made it’s way to Canton to rock the crowds at Canton Icehouse! We could barely get loaded in, when we started hearing pleas from a table of people nearby that they had two girls with birthdays that they were celebrating. This just set the tone for an exciting night right out of the gate. We had the people on their feet dancing and grooving within the first few songs, and maintained that energy for the rest of our show!
I would again like to thank the powers that be for giving us some great St Patty gig opportunities, and I’d like to thank all the friends, fans, and family that came to support us all week long!
-Tom Blair
February Break - But Look Out March!
After a strong start to the new year in January, the team at BlairOutLoud has slowed its roll this month to peel back the layers, work on some internal organizational stuff, and soon will be implementing a new system that connects with fans in new and unique ways! Also.. March is gonna rule.. Show announcements including St Patty’s!
Greetings Fans and Friends!
Thanks for clicking in! BlairOutLoud BAND and other projects had a killer start to the New Year.. More on this below, but for now, I wanted to update you on where we are in February and where we hope to go!
Some external operations around here have slowed down this month to take a moment and create some new “systems”, and I’m very excited about what it will bring down the road for the live shows!
It is difficult when you work as a full-time musician to pass over opportunities that are rolling in, especially when you need to eat and support your loved ones. But late in the year last year, I began to take stock of where we were as an organization, and I knew that the only way to push BlairOutLoud to the next level in the new year, would be to peel back our operations, and create the band and brand that I hope you’ll love.
The last few weeks have been completely dedicated to resetting priorities, collaborating on ideas for where we want our live shows to go, and finally, beginning the process of integrating those ideas into our presence both online, and on the stage!
PREVIEW
In the coming months, you’ll still see the physical song lists that you’ve come to enjoy at my SOLO acoustic shows. And by the way, I’ll be busy adding lots more songs to those lists soon, incorporating over a year of new requests that have come in from the fans! However, I’ll also have some new promo cards and signs with QR codes that lead back to the website with exclusive content, more selection, and some fun interactivity. My goal is to have a stronger connection with the fans, and collaborate more on song requests, catering to the patrons and the venue in real-time!
In the coming months.. on a much broader scale, we will be implementing that type of “live request system” into other live shows involving the DUO, TRIO, or full BAND line-up as well. It’s a very exciting time!
Here’s how it will work:
Imagine a concert where you go to rock out with your favorite live band, and those musicians can receive real-time live requests onstage while performing, and then tailor the sets according to what the audience wants to party and dance to.. in the moment! YES.. We are building a system to do just that! It’s an exciting venture, and will be a challenge to implement, but I’m betting that in the right venues, with the right crowds supporting us, this could be a lot of fun! As we get closer to the release of this, we’ll update you here, and of course be talking about it on our social media spots.
Other than the new request system that’s coming.. also look out for more online content, more expansion into new venues and areas, and something we’ve been waiting on for a long time, BlairOutLoud Merch!
All coming this Spring.. It’s going to be one heck of year for BlairOutLoud! Thanks for supporting us out there!
BTW, Don’t forget to book your Spring and Summer Events NOW!
